Every custom formula begins the same way— with a careful review of your practitioner recommendation, existing formula, or individual needs.
From there, I determine which preparation method will best honor the original formulation while creating the highest quality herbal medicine.
Traditional Whole-Herb Extraction (Maceration)
Whenever possible, I prepare custom formulas from whole raw herbs using the traditional art of maceration. Each herb is carefully weighed, blended, and submerged in a custom alcohol menstruum, where it slowly extracts over 4–6 weeks. This patient process allows the alcohol to gently dissolve and preserve the plant's medicinal constituents, creating a rich, balanced tincture crafted specifically for your formula.
These custom extractions are ideal when a formula can be faithfully recreated from whole herbs and often become part of my growing clinical apothecary for future refills.
Clinical Herbal Compounding
Some practitioner formulas contain proprietary blends, restricted or hard-to-source specialty tincture blends, or formulas that simply cannot be duplicated from raw herbs alone.
In those cases, the most accurate approach is to carefully compound by sourcing individual professionally prepared herbal tinctures, preserving the integrity of the original formula exactly as intended.
Rather than recreating something that already works exceptionally well, I believe in honoring the original formulation whenever possible.
